The user needs to move one colour block at a time that matches an exact hue of that colour block. Clicking on the arrow sign that indicates yes, the first level of the game starts, with an animated hint of a hand moving down the screen indicating to the user what the user needs to do. Once you click start, a Beginner’s screen pops up with hues of blue, and asks if the user is ready.
There was no registration required at this time nor did it ask for any user information.
Once downlaoded, the interface of I Love Hue is user friendly, the first screen when opened,has blocks of harmoniuos colors on the screen, then the name of the app, where the world love is replaced by the heart sign, and last but not least, the word “ start” at the bottom right side of the screen. There is also a ratings and review section, and an information lists that has information on who the seller is, the size of the app, category, languages, compatibility, age restriction, in-App Purchaes and a privacy policy. The app states who the developer is: Zut Games Ltd, and lists the rest of the apps the developer created with other recomendations from other developers. It defines exactly how many levels it has :600, and ofers the player to compare his performance with other users all over the world. It also lists the app’s features and describes it as an art game of perception and not logic. It uses words such as : Colour, harmony, Perception ,Serenity, perfect place, spectrum, order, tranquil, light. Below the description there are a few instructional points on how to play the game. In the App Store, there is a description of what this app does, it is a “ journey into colour and perception”, and describes to whome this app was made for,” for players who enjoy beautifully crafted puzzle games or anyone who needs a few moments of visual tranquility”. If one is not already signed in the App Store, the app store asks you to log on before downloading. It is a free up and all one had to do was press the get button to download. Starting from the App Store, searching for the I Love hue app was fairly straight forward. I will be doing a walkthrogh method on the app game : I Love Hue. It uses a step-by-step vernacular context that connects to STS and cultural studies. The walkthroug method is an analytical engagement and approach to study apps and build a more detailed analysis of it’s intended purpose, hidden cultural meanings and how it guids users and shapes their experiances.
